Squirrel Nonduality

Have you noticed lately the increase in offerings of nondual teachings on the internet?  There are all kinds of teachers coming out of the woodwork (so to speak)!  The ones you have most likely heard of:  Eckhart Tolle, Byron Katie, and Mooji, to name a few.  And a host of others you might not have heard of:  Fred David, Salvadore Poe, Kyle Hoobin, Randall Friend, John Wheeler, James Braha and many more.

Frankly, they are all saying the same thing.  And that is "You ALREADY ARE what you are looking for!"   (i.e.You already are FREE... you just have to recognize it.)

AND, concurrently, in this most interesting time we live in, have you noticed the increasing numbers of posts, stories, photos, and news clips of squirrels happening?  Every day there seems to be a new funny story about a squirrel on a baseball field, a canoeist rescuing a squirrel out in the middle of a lake, a human giving CPR to a squirrel, or some TV special all about squirrels.   

Most people would never make the connection between these two happenings, but it has become VERY CLEAR to me there is one.

Little squirrels, are perfect examples of "Living  Nonduality".   Nonduality simply means "not two".  Human suffering is a result of the belief that we are 'separate' from God* and others.   Squirrels have no thought of separation whatsoever.   They ARE one with What is.   Awakening is simply the realization of this.  Because humans tend to have two lives, the one they live in reality and the one they live inside their head, they tend to become very confused at times.   Squirrels on the other hand are always very clear.   Humans tend to dwell on the past or future and forget all about the present moment. Squirrels live ONLY in the NOW.

You've heard this quote:  "When the student is ready, the teacher will appear."   Well it's happening!   Nondual teachers and Squirrels alike are answering the call of the multitudes of students out there looking for "Enlightenment".
The human teachers who are living nonduality are assisting others to know the Truth by writing books, having meetings, etc.   Squirrel teachers on the other hand teach completely in Silence by example.  You have NO EXCUSE not to wake up in this lifetime!
We are all led to the perfect teacher...
and for some, it's a little squirrel.

Squirreluminosity: The Solution to All Problems

Oh my goodness. Can you even grasp how simple everything is?  There is just one thing going on...   and it's called, "Squirreluminosity".

And there you are scratching your head.  What? 

You don't understand?   (...not yet!)

OK.  Look.  Close your eyes and contemplate this question:

"Without any thoughts,  WHO are you?"

And usually everyone simply answers "me!"

But go a little further...  what does that mean.. "me" ??

Your eyes are closed.  You don't see anything. You don't even see your body.  You can't even prove you have one.

And if you have no thoughts...  then what's left??

Nothing?

Here's the great news...

it's nothing you can see...

but in reality, it's pure SQUIRRELUMINOSITY!

WOW!!!

Juicy, happy, joyful, compassionate, pure

SQUIRRELUMINOSITY!!  It's the fabric of the Cosmos!

And here's more great news:

THERE IS NO PLACE WHERE SQUIRRELUMINOSITY IS NOT!!!

OMG.  Did you hear that?

You can't get away from it if you tried!

YOU ARE IT!

I had the privilege of being with the most awesome 

Squirrel-Buddha for 4 years...  Sri Nut Ji.

He taught by example.  He was the kindest, wisest, most giving and compassionate being I have ever met.  He lived in and as pure Squirreluminosity and showed me that there is no difference between us.  In fact, there is ONLY 

the ONE SQUIRRELUMINOUS HEART.

There is nothing kinder than that!

That's why I love Byron Katie so much.  She lives in and as pure Squirreluminosity!!  Back in 86 she suddenly woke up from over a decade of depression and fear, into the sweet and juicy world of pure Squirreluminosity!   She discovered that the difference between heaven and hell is simply believing your stressful thoughts!  Katie is PURE compassion...   so so amazing.  

And ever since she discovered the Truth,  she continues to travel around the globe sharing her discovery with everyone:  "There is no need to suffer."  

When you tap into the Squirreluminosity that you are, you begin to see that the only fear you can have is the unreality that you yourself have invented!   Isn't that fine!!

... so if I am having a problem, I KNOW what to do:

INQUIRE WITHIN!

Admiral Nut Postage Stamp

About a month ago, I was at the 78704 Post Office wanting to buy some postage stamps.   I asked Eddie if he had any stamps with squirrels on them.   

"Nope.  You're going to have to create those yourself."

So I did.  

Three days later, around 7pm, there was a knock at my front door.   Wondering who could possibly be visiting at that time, I was surprised to see a mail-carrier standing on my porch.   She was not my regular mail person, but had substituted on our block sometime last summer.   

As I opened the door, I saw a baby squirrel clutching her shoulder.  

"I was delivering mail in Travis Heights and saw this little baby on the ground.  I just couldn't leave him there so I picked  him up and he just hung on me as I finished my route.  I remembered that you took in squirrels, so I came right over as soon as I finished.  Can you help him?"

Aww.....  a little baby sent by Admiral Nut.   It turned out she was a baby girl and I named her "Taylor" after the postal carrier who delivered her.  Later, at the recommendation of one of my home squirrels, her name became Chippy Taylor... Chippy for short.

The moral of the story is, never underestimate the effects of creating a postage stamp imbued with the super-powers of Admiral Nut.   Our galactic super-squirrel, Mr.Nut is watching over all the little squirrels of the Universe.  He is especially thrilled to keep an eye on our local squirrels and  now uses the US Postal Service to rescue those baby squirrels in need.

If You Meet the Buddha in the tree....

There is a saying, "If you meet the Buddha on the road,
kill him."

This sounds so harsh, but all it means is that one shouldn't attach to a teacher... no matter how worthy or wise that teacher might be.  For me, that teacher was my beloved Muffinheart.  He was my little bodhisattva squirrel... my little buddha in a furry body.  He taught me to meditate... he taught me what "true love" is.   He gave me the experience of dissolving in the bliss of his gaze.  I have no words to describe the exquisite relationship I have with him.  He was here in the physical for 4 years and now he communicates with me in his formlessness.
What Grace is this!

So today, sitting in his room, while Pucy Pie chews on Muffin's deer antlers, he speaks directly from my heart.  He reminds me to just let go of his form and rest in his love... the love that is always present.  That love is not "his" per se,  but is the backdrop that gives rise to us all.

So the challenge is to realize that the "love" that I associated with Muffin is not limited to his form! That love is the totality that gave birth to the physical Muffin.  The good news is that that love cannot be lost... cannot disappear.  
Only the physical form can end... not the love that animated that form.  And so the admonition to "kill the buddha", simple reminds us to let go of our attachment to the physical form and relax and breathe in and embrace that 'squirrelove' that animates us all!

Thank you Admiral Nut!

I had a long talk with Admiral Nut this morning. Or rather, I should say, he had a long talk with me. I was getting so worried about not having enough money to pay bills 

and eat, etc, and Mr.Nut reminded me of this:

Please don't worry! 

 I am looking out for you and for all the squirrel friends. 

I have been traveling around the globe 

and it is quite shocking really. There are people in Africa 

who live on less than a dollar a day! 

There are people who don't have a roof over their heads! There are squirrels that are being hunted and mistreated. 

     You have no idea how good you have it 

even when you don't have enough or can't pay the bills. 

On those days, please just look at all you DO have 

and say "thank you" to the Universe. 

When you continue to give thanks, 

the Universe continues to bless you. 

And NEVER be afraid!  

When you take care of the little squirrels 

and other creatures, the Universe promises 

to take care of you!

The Beauty of Death

Mr.Nut's LOVE is Forever.


No words can adequately convey the immensity of Mr.Nut's love.   He came here to teach, share and be an example of Squirrelove.  So so beautiful.
He left his body on my 60th birthday. Such a tender gift from my most beloved teacher.
And although his physical form is gone, 
his sweet radiance 
shines on and on.

Death is simply the dissolving of the imagined boundaries that "seemingly" keep love separated into bodies. 
Truly there are no boundaries.  
There is just LOVE.
There is ONLY love. 
And there is only One Heart. 
Sweet Mr.Nut left his beautiful body at 3:33pm 
on my 60th birthday.
Such a tender gift from my most Beloved teacher. 
He wanted me to celebrate his life... and to be in joy.
He carries on his mission of LOVE... 
now even stronger than before.

Lovers of the Universe

This morning, Muffinheart and I were doing a little squirrel-play and suddenly he shared some very sweet wisdom.

through squirrel telepathy, he told me that all day long, the only thing that squirrels do, from sun-up to sun-down is

"They Make Love!"

It took me a minute to really grok what he was saying...

He went on:  "All we do is make love to the nuts, when we eat them, and we make love to the earth when we bury the nuts in the ground.  Notice, we tap the earth ever so gently, and with each tap we are kissing the earth with squirrelove.

When we climb a tree, we make love to the trunk and the branches and the bark.  When I look in your eyes, I make love to who you really are-- your true essence, your innermost heart.

Basically, what Muffin was explaining to me in "squirrel-speak" was that everything that little squirrels do, they do as lovers of the Universe.  They have no fear and so their love is pure and strong.  Not everyone can be around squirrels and it takes sensitive beings to really understand what they are trying to teach humanity.

Then I went outside to see what Mr.Nut had to say. He had been very quiet in the last couple of days.
"Mr.Nut, can you tell me about how squirrels love?" I asked.
Like Muffinheart, he spoke telepathically and directly into my heart.  He said he had been quietly traveling and sharing love to those in need. For example, he explained that he was there by George's side yesterday. George, a beloved squirrel friend, left his body to join the One Squirrel Heart.  Mr.Nut said it can be somewhat overwhelming to emerge from such a small body and experience again the immensity of the entire Cosmos! So when George was letting go of his breath, Mr.Nut was there to give comfort. Whenever a little squirrel "dies", other squirrels always gather around to give encouragement.
Mr.Nut doesn't like the word "die" because he says it's not really true.  A squirrel never really "dies";  they just drop their "squirrel-form" and join the formless and mighty One.
Humans tend to have trouble understanding this and can feel very alone when their squirrel companion leaves their body. But soon, in time, they realize that the "departed" one never really went anywhere.  And often you will see them simply as beautiful orbs OR streams of radiant light.

So you see... there really is no end to squirrelove.  Like Muffin explained earlier, all the little squirrels are simply the lovers of the Universe.  He says, "And we come to teach the humans that LOVE can never die... it's what you ARE!"

The Squirrels' Secret to Satisfying Sleep

Professor Nut can sleep anywhere, anytime.

Lately there have been many folks inquiring about  Mr.Nut's ability to sleep so soundly and peacefully.  So I asked Mr.Nut to share his sleep secrets. What follows are words straight from the "squirrel's mouth":

~ Preparations for Sleep ~
1. Have a bedtime snack, preferably a light one such as a blueberry or a piece of watermelon.
2. If you have any sticky parts on your body, wash with warm water.  You will feel much more comfortable then.
3. Make sure your blankets are fresh and clean and the room is dark.
4. If you live with someone, get them to rub your tummy and behind your ears. Lots of kisses are also very welcome.

~ Now You Are Ready ~

 Close your eyes and let yourself rest in the space of squirreluminosity.  This is the pure space of juicy squirrel happiness and infinite squirrelove.  It is important to understand that this space is inside of you and outside of you. In fact, there is no place that squirreluminosity is not.
It pervades everything and everyone and is of pure benefit and goodwill.  There is nothing to do now, but to just let go and trust in the One Squirrel Heart.

OK... Mr.Nut has asked me to write this post to clarify something about squirrels.  Mr.Nut is currently teaching a course called "Facebook Etiquette for Posting Comments". One of the topics covered is the use of labels when referring to squirrels. In this post we will consider the label "BEGGAR".

I have heard people toss around the word "little beggars" when they refer to the precious squirrels that show up, asking for food.  I doubt that anyone really thinks about this rude accusation.  Let me explain...

We humans are the ones that are the real beggars; we live amidst bounty and believe we don't have enough. We take on the belief that we have to earn every penny and work hard to live here on the planet. We were all brainwashed in this regard from the time we were children.  So we grow up and cop an attitude that working hard is something to be proud of and we even take pride in working excessively to pay the bills and keep a roof over our heads.  Humans are the ONLY species that pay to live on earth!

Now, reflect upon the brilliance of the little squirrels.  They don't have this erroneous concept.  They do not differentiate between work and play.  Yet, they do indeed work hard... they plant trees that give us the oxygen to breathe and nuts to eat, and they take care of their young and teach them how to survive.   Yes, they will come over and ask for some food when nuts are not in season; but they are far from "beggars".  They are our teachers: they are here to wake us up to the Truth.  Notice that they don't pay rent... they don't pay for food.  Squirrels sit in the lap of the Divine!

They live the abundant life and if we weren't programmed from early on, we would know how to do that, too. 

So it's high time we gave them the honor and the respect they deserve!

Perhaps instead of the word "beggar" we should be using  the title "precious beings" or "beloved friends".

A Living Cosmic Treasure

Mr.Nut is a Cosmic Treasure

You've probably heard of the term "national treasure".  It is typically defined as a shared cultural asset of a nation. To give an example, a national treasure may be a medieval manuscript or even a famous cultural property.  On the other hand, a medicine woman or a skilled flute player could also be considered a 'living national treasure'.

With that said, it has recently come into my awareness that our Mr.Nut, is in fact a Living Cosmic Treasure!
Commander Nut is head of Squirrel Galactica, the overarching cosmic squirrel mission to assist planet earth in this time of radical transformation.  He works diligently every night as he travels horizontally, visiting distant galaxies and solar systems, and then vertically, as he moves freely through the many dimensions.

Many people ask, how is it possible that Mr.Nut is capable of such a rigorous dharma?  The answer is simple.  Mr.Nut is not your ordinary squirrel. He is a magnificent being of pure conscious awareness.  He embodies pure LOVE which is named in spiritual circles as: Buddha consciousness, Christ consciousness, unity consciousness, and many others.  His purity is unparalleled and so he is able to keep the entire Cosmos in perfect balance.  What a privilege it is to be able to live with such a treasure! 

The Wisdom of Mr.Nut

Most people don't realize that when a squirrel is rescued but is unable to be released due to physical or mental disabilities, it doesn't mean that the squirrel is incompetent. In fact, it is the extreme opposite.  These "NR" squirrels are some of the most intelligent and highly evolved cosmic beings on the planet today.  The Nameless One has deemed it necessary to work incognito via little squirrels in order to successfully manage the transformation of the planet, as we humans have basically trashed our poor Mother Earth.
Therefore it is of utmost importance to protect and nurture these living treasures!  Anyone who has the incredible privilege to share a home with one of these amazing squirrels should know they have been highly blessed. It is an honor to be given such a holy dharma.

What is Squirreluminosity?

Today Mr.Nut wants to talk about' squirreluminosity'. It's way more than a description of a squirrel's light body. Squirreluminosity is the universal all-encompassing 'beingness' of the One Squirrel Heart. Squirreluminosity is another word for Christ-consciousness, Buddha-consciousness, Oneness, All That Is, the Tao, and Great Mystery to name a few.

Squirreluminosity is the level of consciousness that earthlings aspire to. Someone who is 'squirreluminous' is also known as 'awakened' or 'enlightened'.    To act from the One Squirrel Heart in all circumstances is to act with compassion.

So what does this mean on a practical every day level?  It means to respond from the quiet place in the heart rather than with a knee-jerk reaction from the ego-mind.  It means to keep quiet at times when  a harsh word would act like a grenade.  It means to forget grievances and remember the blessings.  

The Bliss of Sri NutJi

Mr.Nut wants to remind everyone that nothing is personal.  When someone seemingly "hurts" another, it has everything to do with the story that is playing in that person's head.  And if you believed the same thoughts that person is believing, you would do exactly what they are doing.  It's really that simple.  It's our own imagination that makes every situation worse than it is. 

That's why the best policy is to "just stop".  Be like a little squirrel... don't think.... just "BE".  And you will find you have much more PEACE in your life! 

The Truth About Santa

Santa Nut and his Roly Poly Reindeers

For hundreds of years people all over the world have believed in Santa Claus. Children leave cookies and milk on the kitchen table for some roundish figure in a red stocking cap who is supposed to leave lots of presents and goodies under the Christmas tree.

Well it's time you learn the real truth about Santa.  I just found this out myself.  Apparently the truth could not be shared until we arrived at a critical mass of human beings who understand the enormity of Squirrlove and the important mission of squirrels:  To establish Peace on planet Earth.

And now the time is here.

And his loyal helpers are his roly poly reindeer!
You know, this makes perfect sense to me.  A sleigh is not going to be able to travel the globe and get the job done with a reindeer-powered sleigh.  Santa Nut's superior spacecraft can travel faster than the speed of light. He can be in places on the other side of the earth instantaneously! That is the SuperPower of Squirrel Telepathy! WOW!  And his roly poly reindeers travel via orbs of light.

Besides delivering gifts and good cheer, on every visit to earth beings,  Santa Nut seeds every location with the enlightened frequencies of Unconditional Love.  You may have noticed that more and more people have been reaching "awakened" states of consciousness.  This is a direct result of Santa Nut's work.  Being an enlightened Master himself, (in fact he is the reincarnation of Chuang Tzu), he is able to work 'round the clock to facilitate the Great Shift!

So this year, instead of milk and cookies under the tree, please do remember to leave a nice assortment of pecans, hazelnuts and striped sunflower seeds for this mysterious round squirrel in his red stocking cap.  And have yourself a warm and cozy Christmas!

  

Silence is Golden

Just the other day, Mr.Nut and I were enjoying our morning meditation outside.  It was the perfect temperature and he was enjoying smelling the grass after all the rain we've had.
No words were spoken between us. Only the sounds of birds chirping, the water sprinkler, and the rustle of trees could be heard.  And nothing more was needed.

Silence can be so very satisfying, but not many humans really give it a fair chance.  Typically, if there isn't the sound of a radio or TV somewhere in the background, people tend to become uncomfortable. That's usually because they are not comfortable with their own thoughts and feelings.  Having the TV or radio constantly playing is one way to avoid being intimate with yourself. And this is the main reason why people feel lonely.
 



Mr.Nut expounds on the beauty and satisfaction of silence.
Whether he is inside on his cat tree, outside in the big cage, or enjoying the front lawn with me, he insists on silence.
And as a result, I have come to enjoy the true contentment of just "being".

If there is anything that squirrels teach best, I would say it is the value of silence.

Heart Wisdom

Mr.Nut traveling through the Cosmos

People always ask me... how does Mr.Nut know what he knows?  He always gives the perfect answers to all the questions asked!

First of all, I have to say that Mr.Nut is not your typical squirrel.  He has been preparing for many incarnations to come back in this time on earth to assist with the transformation of human consciousness.  You may be familiar with one of his past lives as
Chuang Tzu, (399 - 295 B.C.).
Chuang Tzu took the Taoist position of Lao Tzu and developed it further. His writing is at once transcendental while at the same time being deeply immersed in everyday life. He is at peace while at the same time moving through the world. And so it is again in this incarnation as Mr.Nut!

Mr.Nut was born alongside two brothers... Sweet Pea and Bucky.  Their nest came down in a cold, rainy February of 2012.  His brothers were found still huddled together in the nest, but Mr.Nut was not discovered until a full 24 hours later, barely moving, wet and cold on the ground.
From this harsh beginning on the planet, Mr.Nut learned to go within and rest in the One Squirrel Heart in order to survive!  And he has always been somewhat 'different' in his demeanor and actions.  He is soft, kind, compassionate and a font of limitless wisdom!

Even as a small squirrel child, you can witness his intensity:

Mr.Nut has always lived simultaneously in different dimensions.  He has the ability to connect with beings all over the Cosmos and so is able to assist humans to experience profound heart openings!

It gives Mr.Nut great pleasure to share his wisdom. He is generous with his love and enjoys all tenderness offered to him.  He is friendly to all and will not hesitate to bury a nut under your feet or at your collar.  He has no interest in owning anything.  He simply radiates squirrelove to all!

Mr.Nut's life is the evidence of Truth.

Mr.Nut's prayer is that all beings discover that the LOVE they are searching for...  is already there inside their heart!

You ARE love.

The Darshan of Sri Nut


For anyone who has rescued a baby squirrel,
nurtured and loved them, a radical change of heart
 is experienced.
There is an awakening to a bigger love
than most humans are typically aware of.
 This love I call 'squirrelove', but in actuality
 it is the ONE HEART that includes all beings.
It is one's true Self.... which is pure love.

This is not the human romantic kind of love
that is spoken of here.  Mr.Nut says that humans
 don't really know this BIG love because they
tend to try to "hold on" to people and animals
that they love. He says that the ONE HEART
doesn't need to hold onto anyone because
there is no other place they can be...
except IN the ONE HEART.

Mr.Nut says it is the very helplessness of a baby squirrel that touches us so deeply. It is their innocent trust in life that is so attractive. There are not even words to describe this experience because it is so incredible. Most often there are just tears of gratitude for this beautiful happening.

This is the great lesson we can learn from the little
 squirrels that come into our lives.  We can learn to
love and let go as needed.  We don't require our
children to live with us their entire lives... we in
fact encourage them to go out into the world when
they have grown up.  On the other hand, we want
to hold onto these little squirrels for as long as
possible because the love they give us is like no
other love... it is purely unconditional.  It is not a
smothering kind of love, but rather a detached love
that has no requirements of us.  They are teaching
us about impersonal love.

Mr.Nut says this is what Awakening is all about.
To find out that you don't NEED love, but rather
that you ARE love is the greatest understanding.
And this is the very reason why little squirrels
come into our lives!

Mr.Nut's Holiday Message

Mr.Nut is inside today because it's freezing outside and the wind is biting!  He's been jumping on me and insisting that I take down his Holiday message! So here is it: 

Christmas is an important day for squirrels.  Not many people know this, but over 2000 years ago, when the Christ child was born, little squirrels were there with him! It was very cold that night and the stable they were in was pretty drafty.  So one beautiful mama squirrel brought her brood over to his manger. She proceeded to lay down next to him and directed her little ones to do the same. In that way, he was kept toasty warm! 

Not many people are aware of Christ's love for the little squirrels and today we see only a few hints of their relationship.  Here is a stained glass window at an Episcopal Church in New York featuring this beautiful friendship! 

Mr.Nut also relayed that, just like the Christ, all the little squirrels are here on the planet teaching the message of love. Have you ever noticed that when a person is going through a tough time in life, whether there has been a death or a loss of some sort;  very often an orphaned squirrel will show up to soothe that being's heart. Typically, the human thinks it is rescuing the squirrel,  but in reality, the baby squirrel is rescuing the human, by transmitting copious amounts of undiluted Squirrelove! In this way, many human hearts have been mended!
